Mary Jane's Crochet: Tips on Crochet
This is a fun fur type scarf with sparkle to it. The photos do not do it justice, and is gorgeous in person. HINT: Using a plain yarn along with a novelty yarn and using a large hook make it much easier to see the stitches.

Pink Fluffy Sparkle Scarf

Original design by Mary Jane Hall
Finished Size - 65" x 4"

SKILL LEVEL: Easy
MATERIALS:
  • Linie 185, Smash Irisee yarn in pink, 2 - 50 gram balls or any fun fur type yarn
  • 3 oz. any sport wt. or worsted wt. plain yarn in pink
  • Crochet hook size J /9 (5.5 mm) or hook to obtain gauge
  • Note: Using a large hook will make it easier to see stitches
  • Large eyed needle
GAUGE:
  • 2 dc = 5/8 "
  • 2 dc rows = approx. 1 1/2"
INSTRUCTIONS:
  • With 1 strand of each yarn (fun fur and plain yarn-2 strands together) ch 13.
  • Rows 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each ch across. Ch 3, turn (11dc) Ch 3 counts as 1st dc from here on out.
  • Rows 2-78: Skip first dc. Dc in each dc across (11 dc on each row) Finish off yarn.
  • Note: Always skip 1st dc (unless otherwise stated) when you are making any project with dc's, or your work will get wider.
  • Tassels: wrap both yarns around a 6 1/2 inch piece of cardboard approximately 14-17 times, depending on how full you want your tassels. Make tassel as follows: After yarn has been wrapped around cardboard, place about a 12 in. piece of yarn underneath top strands of yarn and tie a knot to hold strands together. Take yarn off cardboard , and cut bottom of tassel, so ends will be loose. Cut another 12 in. piece of yarn, and wrap around top of tassel (about 1/2 inch below top of tassel) Wrap to hold in place, and tie knot. Weave short ends into middle of tassel, so they won't show. Trim ends of tassel, so they will be even. Attach tassels to each end of scarf. Weave in yarn ends with large eyed needle.
